Those who are eligible for the tournament are:
- For the 2009-2010 academic year, anyone who will be studying for a degree (undergraduate or postgraduate) at a UK university (either full-time or part-time).
- Someone who graduated from a UK university after May 2006*.
Those who are not-eligible for the tournament are:
-
Someone who is a registered professional or semi-professional cannot play. For example, if they play the professional tour on a regular basis.**
There will be an initial limit of 15 players per university. Registration will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. Any persons who try to register after the university allocation will be placed on the reserve list (see registration information for more details).
Proof of eligibility may be required, and if the organisers ask for evidence of eligibility, if must be supplied. For current students, this will be a student number and for alumni, this will be a copy of a graduation certificate.
*Ideally, this means someone was in their final year of study during 2005-2006, and will be in their 4th year of alumni status during the 2009-2010 academic year. However, somebody who finished their degree earlier than the 2005-2006 academic year, but deferred graduation, would technically still be eligible. Unfortunately this is hard to enforce since most graduation certificates only have the date of graduation on. However, if your graduationcertificates state that the degree was completed before the 2005-2006 academic year, the participant will not be eligible. Honourary degree holders are not eligible.
**This eligibility criteria is at the discretion of the organisers.
